The Marietta College Department of Music is pleased to announce the Jazz Combo Spring Concert is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 18th, at the Alma McDonough Auditorium.

Under the direction of Jordan Reed, Instructor of Saxophone and Jazz at Marietta College, the music presented will be from 1959-69.  Collaboration also includes the Department of Music’s collaborative pianist, Merewyn Weinkauf, on a composition written by Reed. Music Education student Calaya Rake ’20 (Marietta, Ohio) will also be performing during the concert with the Jazz Combo.

“Jordan is a great addition to the variety of instructors in the Music Department. Skilled in both classical and jazz saxophone performance, Jordan adds training and a dimension that no other instructor is the Music Department possesses,” said Marshall C. Kimball, Music Department chairman. “His skills in the teaching, performance, and writing of jazz is amazing. He is able to help the students understand the numerous jazz styles and articulations and teaching them how to improvise and write original jazz tunes. This concert will be very enjoyable for all in attendance.”

The concert is free and open to the public. Doors to the auditorium open at 7:00 p.m.
