Marietta College accounting student Brett Dixon ’27, of Lebanon, Ohio, has been selected to serve as a Student Ambassador for the Ohio Society of CPAs, marking the first time in the College’s history that a student has been selected for this distinction.
Dixon’s selection follows the Feb. 20 Accounting Lunch and Learn event hosted on campus in collaboration with representatives from the Ohio Society of CPAs as part of the Career Readiness Program. The event connected students with professionals in the field and provided an opportunity for Dixon to pursue the ambassador role.
"After learning about the countless opportunities the OSCPA offers to young accounting professionals, I felt inspired to promote these resources to others so that they, too, can benefit,” Dixon said.
As a Student Ambassador, Dixon will represent Marietta College while participating in leadership development, networking, and outreach initiatives coordinated by the Ohio Society of CPAs. His responsibilities include promoting the accounting profession among fellow students and engaging with prospective students at both the collegiate and high school levels.
The Student Ambassador program is designed to strengthen connections between students and the accounting profession while developing future leaders in the field. Dixon will join a cohort of ambassadors from colleges and universities across Ohio.
“This is an exciting milestone for our accounting program and a meaningful opportunity for Brett to grow professionally while representing Marietta College,” said Doug Ankrom ’97, assistant professor of accounting at Marietta College. “We are proud to see our students engaging directly with the profession at this level.”
Marietta College’s accounting program continues to expand experiential learning opportunities that connect students with professional organizations, industry leaders, and career pathways in accounting. The Career Readiness Program, an initiative of the Department of Business & Economics, helps students strengthen the skills, behaviors, and qualities necessary for career success, ensuring every graduate enters the workforce with confidence and a competitive advantage.
