Great Valley Fellows Program

The 11-month Great Valley Fellows Program offers outstanding young professionals the opportunity to participate in the day-to-day business of leadership and management in California's Central Valley. Fellows travel to all 18 counties of the region, serve in apprenticeship roles with senior level managers in the public, private and social sectors, conduct their own consulting project for a client, and complete a project portfolio.The 11-month Great Valley Fellows Program begins in September and concludes in July. Applicants must complete a four-year bachelor's degree before the program commences, and candidates with additional graduate study and career experience are highly encouraged to apply. Applications are due in Spring

Offers a one-year competitive public service fellowship for Indian-Americans who want to understand India and challenge themselves to make a difference. Indicorps offers fellowships in India that are designed as one-of-a-kind transformational experiences, emphasizing both public service and personal growth. While providing resources to help fellows succeed projects, the program provides an environment for Indicorps fellows to learn about themselves.

 

Mickey Leland Hunger Fellows Program

A year-long fellowship sponsored by the Congressional Hunger Center that trains emerging leaders in the fight against hunger. Six months are spent working on hunger issues at grassroots organizations around the country. Applications due in January

 

Youth Engaged in Service (YES) Ambassador Program

A year-long program sponsored by the Points of Light Foundation. Applicants should be between the ages of 18 and 25. They receive a salary, benefits, a travel and development budget, and access to the resources of the Points of Light Foundation. For further information call 202-729-3231.

American Prospect Writing Fellowships

Support writers under 30 who show the potential to thrive as critical journalists and public intellectuals. The American Prospect's Writing Fellows Program offers young journalists the opportunity to spend a full year at the magazine in Washington, DC, actively developing, practicing and honing their journalistic skills. Each Fellow will write between three and four full-length articles with the expectation that these will be published in the Prospect; the articles are expected to be in-depth reports involving original research and reporting. Fellows will also contribute short pieces to the "Devil in the Details" column, assist with general editorial work and write frequently for the website. Fellows will participate in seminars with leading journalists and work closely with American Prospect editors and contributors in developing their own work.

 

The National Endowment for Financial Education

Offers two year fellowships for recent college graduates to gain nonprofit and project management experience. The fellowship is located in Denver, CO at NEFE's headquarters. The starting salary is $26,250 and Fellows also receive an attractive benefits package. Deadline for applications is in April.

 

New York City Teaching Fellows

Teaching fellows are in the classroom as they are pursuing their own education through a fully paid Master's degree program. They also benefit from a regular teacher's salary and benefits, AmeriCorps program benefits, including up to $4,725 a year (for up to two years) to devote to higher education costs. Ongoing support at the school and district levels. A network of like-minded professionals committed to educational excellence for New York City's students.

 

Sounds Conservancy Grants Program

Supports marine education and research in the region that stretches from Long Island Sound to Nantucket Sound. Grants average $1000 (and do not exceed $2,500) and are designed especially to support students with marine science research projects. A small portion of funds are available to support local nonprofits with public education and outreach efforts.

 

Steppingstone Fellowships

In 1995, The Steppingstone Fellowship was created to provide teaching and administrative experience to recent college graduates interested in exploring a career in the field of education. The Fellowship is a two-year commitment, beginning in September. During the first year, the Steppingstone Fellow focuses on admissions, while teaching and advising the Scholars. During the second year, the Fellow helps coordinate the 14-month academic program while serving as a resource for the first-year Fellow. In addition, the Fellow has the opportunity to take one graduate-level course in education

 

Third Wave Organizing and Activist Fund

Provides financial resources to women between the ages of 15 and 30. The Foundation funds young women and projects that serve them in the areas of reproductive rights, education and micro-enterprise. Grants range from $100 - $5000.Deadlines are April1 and October 1.

 

United Way of Tri-State Fellows

Program provides motivated recent graduates experience with corporate/non-profit partnerships. Six fellows work on corporate fundraising campaigns throughout the metropolitan New York city area, including parts of New Jersey and Connecticut. The Fellowship is a 6 month commitment. Fellows receive a monthly stipend. Whenever possible, assignments will be tailored to match the academic and career goals of the participants.
