Family, friends tour Encino Energy well pad named in memory of late Petroleum Engineering student

Encino Energy hosted family and friends of a Marietta College student who passed away unexpectedly for a tour of a well pad named in his memory. Joel Wunnenberg  ’20 was an aspiring petroleum engineer in his first year at Marietta College when he tragically passed away in the spring of 2017.

Early Saturday afternoon, Marietta College junior Derek Krieg ’19 spotted members of Joel Wunnenberg’s family walking up The Christy Mall, and promptly stopped what he was doing to greet Joel’s mother with a welcoming hug.

“Thank you for coming,” he said.

“Thank you for everything,” Kim Wunnenberg responded.

Petroleum Engineering professor honored with ‘Achievement Award’

Dave Freeman, Professor and Chair of Marietta College’s Petroleum Engineering and Geology Department, was recognized with the “Distinguished Achievement Award for Petroleum Engineering Faculty,” at the Eastern Regional meeting of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) on October 5th in Lexington, Kentucky.
