Baseball Coaching Staff News
There’s some exciting things ahead, I can promise all of you that...
I have hired an incredibly smart, humble, and hard-working staff that will put everything they have into these student-athletes. They are elite relationship builders, tireless workers, and extremely savvy baseball minds that have already proven to develop players at all levels.
Let’s start on the mound ...
First, our Pitching Coach will be Justin Liserio. A Heidelberg grad (I know, I know). I ask that you look past his poor decision making of schools and welcome him with open arms as he is fully aware of the national brand that is Marietta Baseball. When it comes to Player Development, there was no better candidate. He was the first offer put out and had to be pried away from a couple other places (including some very good D1 programs). He started his coaching career as an Advanced Performance Coach at Tread Athletics, one of the premier pitching facilities in the country. From there he went onto work with Zach Dechant and the TCU Program as a Strength & Conditioning intern before spending the last two seasons as the Pitching Coach at Cal State Bakersfield. Justin will serve as the Pitching Coach and Strength & Conditioning Coordinator, as well as assist heavily in the recruiting. Originally from Elyria, Ohio, he will be moving to Marietta with his girlfriend, Mackenzie.
Next, the batter’s box and beyond ...
The second hire is Brennen Hunt. Brennen will serve as the Hitting Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. From the Ashland, Ohio, area, Brennen played his ball at Ohio Dominican University. During his five years, he played in over 200 games mostly at the shortstop position but tallied 9 appearances on the mound during his last two seasons as well. Upon graduating, he immediately jumped on staff at ODU where he assisted with the hitters, infield defense and recruiting efforts. Brennen then moved onto Thomas Moore University where he spent the last season as their Recruiting Coordinator and worked with both the Pitching Staff and assisted with the Hitters. Brennen also spent one summer as an Assistant Coach for the Hamilton Joes in the Great Lakes Collegiate Summer League. Brennen’s girlfriend, Camryn, currently serves as an Assistant Basketball Coach at Findlay University while his brother Chase, coaches under a familiar face of the program in John Schaly ’82 at Ashland University.
Mosca’s staying put ...
Wrapping up the staff will be the legendary Bill Mosca ’78. Retaining Bill was the biggest no-brainer decision of them all. The resounding love the current players have for Coach Mosca told me everything I needed to know about the type of man he is. It took me a whole 5 minutes of talking to him over the phone to know how much this program and these kids mean to him. He’ll hate me for giving him this long of a shoutout because as most of you know, it’s never been about him. He will be an integral part of this team, this transition, and the future of Marietta Baseball, and I can’t thank him enough for accepting a position on the staff.
