Mike Salvino ’87, who has enjoyed a successful career in the technology industry and is now leading a Fortune 500 company, will be Marietta College’s Commencement speaker at the 2021 graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 1.

Salvino is the President and CEO of DXC Technology, the world’s leading independent, end-to-end IT services company that serves over 6,000 private and public-sector customers in 70 countries, a role he has held since September 2019. Salvino also serves on the DXC Board of Directors since May 2019.

“It’s an honor to address the graduates of the Marietta Class of 2021,” Salvino said. “As an alumnus and the parent of college-aged kids, I know how meaningful commencement is for the students, their parents and those closest to them. I am excited to return to campus and congratulate them all on this significant achievement.”

Salvino, who earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, is a member of the College’s Board of Trustees and has served as the Chair of the Investment Committee.

“We are thrilled to welcome Mike Salvino back to Marietta College,” said Bill Ruud, Marietta College’s 19th President. “It is indeed a distinct honor that our graduates will receive a keynote address from someone with such an accomplished and diverse background. I have had the privilege of getting to know Mike on a personal level since I arrived in 2016, and I know he will do an outstanding job speaking directly to the graduates and delivering an impactful message.”

Prior to joining DXC, he served as Managing Director of Carrick Capital Partners from 2016 to 2019, where he was directly involved with Carrick’s portfolio companies and in sourcing new investments and growing and managing large-scale tech-enabled services businesses.

From 2009 to 2016, Salvino served as Group Chief Executive of Accenture Operations, one of Accenture’s five businesses, where he led a team of more than 100,000 consulting and outsourcing professionals focused on providing business process outsourcing, infrastructure, security, and cloud services to deliver business value and drive productivity and digital improvements for customers. He has also held leadership roles in the HR outsourcing business at Hewitt Associates Inc. and at Exult Inc.

Marietta College’s Commencement ceremony will be in person starting at 1:00 p.m. in the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center. The College will be following COVID-19 protocols put forth by the CDC. While tickets are limited to four per graduate, the College will also stream the ceremony live online. The College will share more details about Commencement — including the livestream link — in the coming weeks through emails and on its Commencement website.
