Elisabeth B. Simpson, Ph.D., CRC, NCC, earned her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from Duquesne University, along with a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and a bachelor’s degree in Biology from West Virginia University. Dr. Simpson has extensive experience in counselor education, having previously served in multiple faculty and leadership roles at West Virginia University, Methodist University, and Fort Valley State University.
A licensed counseling professional and certified rehabilitation counselor, Dr. Simpson maintains an active clinical practice providing psychotherapy services. She has also contributed to large federally funded research and training initiatives, serving as a co-principal investigator and external evaluator on multimillion-dollar grants aimed at advancing rehabilitation counseling and workforce development.
Her scholarship centers on social justice in counseling, counselor competency development, and the use of innovative technologies such as virtual reality in training. Dr. Simpson has published in peer-reviewed journals, delivered numerous professional presentations nationwide, and remains actively engaged in professional service and counseling organizations.
