Marietta College is committed to supporting students through unexpected financial hardships that may affect their ability to stay enrolled. With funding support from generous donors, the Student Emergency Fund provides mini grants to help cover urgent, non-tuition expenses such as medical bills, emergency housing, transportation, or essential academic supplies.
Students who apply may be considered for:
- A mini grant, funded through the Student Emergency Fund, or
- Other institutional emergency resources, including short-term loans coordinated by the Office of Student Life
This fund is not intended to replace financial aid, serve as a long-term solution, or reimburse previously paid expenses. Instead, it provides temporary relief for students who have exhausted all other options.
Eligibility Guidelines
To be considered for emergency assistance, students must:
- Be currently enrolled and degree-seeking at Marietta College
- Demonstrate that they have exhausted other available resources (including payment plans, student loans, family support, and other aid)
- Have a FAFSA on file or be willing to submit one (if eligible)
Please note:
Unwillingness to use student loans does not constitute a financial emergency. Student loans are considered a form of available financial support and must be explored prior to requesting emergency funding.
How to Apply
Students should complete the brief online application linked below. Incomplete applications may be returned. You will be asked to describe the nature of your emergency, the amount requested, and what other resources you’ve already explored.
A small review committee will assess each application. Students will typically receive a response within 5–7 business days of submission.
