
As spring semester draws to a close, we celebrate another academic year of discoveries and successes. At this time of the year a flurry of student recognitions takes place across campus. Congratulations to those who are listed here and to all who learned, demonstrated knowledge, and achieved excellence this year.
Business & Economics
At the Department of Business & Economics 2025 Honorary Induction Ceremony in April, Andrew Korner '26 and Quentin Sheets '26 were welcomed into Omicron Delta Epsilon, the the national economics honorary.
During April and May students from MNGT 310 Business Analytics completed research for the College Office of Admissions. Students Derek Cline '25 and Nicholas Pachete '26 volunteered for and followed through with this commitment to the end of the semester. Cline and Pachete collaborated to create a pivot table to manage this semester's research and presentation material for the Office of Admission. They have also managed the data input to and presentation material from the pivot table.
College Republicans
In February five students from the College Republicans spent the day at the Ohio Statehouse. David Frazier '25, Riley Hayes '27, Franko Rome '26, Landon Thompson '26, and Alyssa Tomlinson '28, met with a variety of state officials including state representatives, state senators, as well as Lt. Governor Tressel and Governor Dewine.
Communication
At the April 30 communication department awards ceremony, 10 students were inducted into Lambda Pi Eta, the communication honorary. New inductees include: Paige Adams '25, Justin Collings '25, Meya Derwacter '25, Bret Dickerson '27, Jacob Grube '26, Mackenzie Hartrum '25, Lindsay Hissa '26, Kazuho Kashima '25, Katie Rufener '25, Inessa Sturm '25.
At the same ceremony, the following awardees were recognized.
- Ellie Yeater '25 received the Andrea “Andi” Parhamovich Memorial Award
- Zach Worstell '26 was awarded the William M. Sheppard Scholarship
- Ava Huebner '25, received the Alpha Xi Delta
- Abby Scott '25 was awarded the Carlton Knight III Memorial Award
Mathematics and Computer Science
At the April Math and Actuarial Science Spring Picnic, Lily Sorensen '25 and Chase Stephen '26 were the 2025 co-awardees of the Theodore Bennett Prize For Mathematics.
McDonough Center for Leadership & Business
Sophia Murray '25 was awarded the Sherill Cleland Prize in Leadership in May.
Music
At the Spring Concert for Jazz and Rock Ensemble an original piece -- "Platonic Love" -- was premiered by the ensemble. The composer, Cole McIntyre '27, worked on this project over Christmas break and through the beginning of this semester.
At the May music department awards ceremony, the following students were recognized for their achievements.
- Bryn Carter '25 and Finn Hall '27 were Jury Prize Winners
- Cole McIntyre '27 received the Theodore Bennett Music Prize
- Haylee Berentz '28 and Ben Petrie '28 were awarded the Robert G. "Red" Williams Music Award
- Maurice Riley '26 and Sarah Legg '27 were announced as Sally Snead Macatol Music Fellowship recipients
