PARTNERS IN PROGRESS
We know that our thriving is essential to our community. Our institution is an economic driver, a center of cultural engagement and a regional force in higher education. We also know that our community’s thriving is essential to our future. Small colleges and small towns thrive together.
So we’re expanding our role as a regional asset, creating even more opportunities for meaningful engagement. Through collaborative scholarship, community-based learning and hands-on problem-solving, we’re preparing students to understand and tackle challenges right here in our region. And we’re inviting community partners to the table for dialogue and collaboration.
Regional Leadership
We will advance our role as a regional thought leader and catalyst for innovation by:
- Establishing the Center for Appalachian Innovation, which will facilitate scholarship to support policy initiatives in the region, host symposiums that will engage governmental and business leaders, and provide capacity-building support for local governments and small businesses.
- Launching the Center for Earth, Energy and the Environment, which will integrate the College’s well-established and highly regarded Petroleum Engineering program with the study of emerging alternative energy systems, earth resources and environmental solutions.
- Embracing our role as a vibrant cultural hub for the region, inviting our community to engage and collaborate through cultural events, speakers and programming in the fine and performing arts.
More History to Make.
