Heidi L. Terry ’96 has been named Vice President for Enrollment Management at Marietta College following a national search, Marietta President Margaret L. Drugovich announced today, December 4.

Terry, currently the Executive Director for Admission and Registration Services at the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in St. Augustine, Florida, will begin her duties at Marietta on January 8. As a member of the President’s Cabinet at Marietta, she will lead the College’s enrollment management strategy, which includes overseeing admissions and financial aid.

Over her 20+ years in higher education, Terry has managed nearly every aspect of enrollment management, including the recruitment strategy for online programs. She also has more than a decade of experience working as a registrar.

“Heidi Terry is well prepared to lead Marietta’s enrollment management program,” President Drugovich said. “Her focus on student achievement, commitment to data-driven decision making, record of goal-driven enrollment success, and ability to collaborate with and support her colleagues makes Heidi a perfect choice for this important leadership role. We are delighted to welcome Heidi back to her alma mater.”

Terry is excited to return to where her career in higher education started.

“Marietta College provided my first opportunity to serve in academic administration back in the ’90s, and while life took me elsewhere to grow in the profession, I am thrilled to return as the Vice President for Enrollment Management and apply my acquired knowledge and skill set to the benefit of my alma mater,” she said. “I look forward to the collaboration that is foundational to effective enrollment management and a critical component to the success of our students, the College, and the communities we serve.”

Terry joined St. Augustine in 2021 to direct the overall operations of the admissions and registrar functional areas. During that time, she crafted a plan to re-engineer the data architecture of the existing admissions software. She also helped create the university’s first policy library and drafted policy templates.

From 2018-21, Terry was the Assistant Dean for Graduate Admission and Enrollment Management at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. She led the admission and recruitment strategy for 16 doctoral programs, 71 master’s programs, and 71 post-baccalaureate certified programs. Reconfiguring the CRM, enhancing marketing efforts, and increasing recruitment activity, East Carolina experienced a 6.6% increase in new graduate student enrollment in Fall 2019 and a 17.7% increase in Spring 2020.

Terry has also worked at the Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown, Ohio (Executive Director for Enrollment Services), Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in Kansas City, Missouri (Vice President for Enrollment Management and Registrar), Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, Kentucky (University Registrar), and Radford University in Radford, Virginia (University Registrar).

She also worked as the Assistant Registrar and Coordinator of Records at Marietta College. Terry has a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Marietta College.

“Stepping onto the Marietta College campus after a multi-decade absence was like returning home,” Terry said. “Memories of my educational journey and the impressive instructors I studied under and then became colleagues with flooded my mind during my tour of campus with Eva Huebner, the student ambassador whose enthusiasm was endearing and so appreciated on that brisk November morning. I am excited to get started!”

Terry and her husband Jim, a 1979 graduate of Williamstown High School, look forward to returning to the area. They raised their two children — James and Courtney — in Williamstown through their middle-grade years.
