Starting with a PioBiz workshop on Thursday, January 27th, the Entrepreneurship Program at Marietta College will offer six events throughout the Spring 2022 semester under the umbrella of the Riverview Credit Union Mid-Ohio Valley Entrepreneurship Expo.  All the events are in-person and free to the public. Here is a brief description of each event:

PioBiz Workshop No. 1

Dr. Jacqueline Khorassani, Director of the Entrepreneurship Program at Marietta College, will facilitate the first PioBiz workshop entitled “Where Do Worthy Entrepreneurial Ideas Come From?” from 4:00-5:00 p.m., Thursday, January 27th in Thomas 327. If you are looking for a business idea, have an idea but are unsure if it is worthy, looking for a business partner, or want to compete in the PioBiz Competition and win up to $10,000 in start-up funds, then this workshop is for you. PioBiz: Problem/Solution

Marietta College students and their business partners will compete in the first round of the PioBiz Competition — “Problem/Solution” — at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, March 3rd, in The Gathering Place. Audience members can vote for their favorite business idea by investing their PioBiz dollars.

PioBiz Workshop No. 2

Khorassani and Julie Harding, former Professor of Marketing at Marietta, will lead a PioBiz workshop — “How Do You Prove Your Business Concept?” — at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, March 17th, in Thomas 327. If you are looking for ways to convince potential stakeholders such as business partners, investors, competition judges, or lenders that your business idea is feasible and likely to succeed, then this workshop is for you.  Click here to register for this workshop.

PioPitch

A PioPitch session, which features entrepreneurs talking about successes and failures, is scheduled for 4:00 p.m., Thursday, March 31st, in Thomas 327. More information on this program will become available online at a later date.

Junior PioBiz

Area high school students will compete in the annual Junior PioBiz competition at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, April 7th, in The Gathering Place. Interested high school students can learn more at www.marietta.edu/jr-piobiz. Audience members will have a say in the winner as they can invest PioBiz dollars in projects. In addition to monetary awards, the winners in this competition will also receive free Marietta Colleges classes. 

PioBiz: Proof of Concept

The final event of the semester is the second round of the PioBiz competition, which is the Proof of Concept phase. This will take place at 4:30 p.m., Thursday, April 28th, at The Gathering Place. Once again, audience members may vote for their favorite business idea.
