Marietta College is celebrating the Year of the Pig during its annual Lunar New Year Celebration from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, February 8, at The Gathering Place.

Students, staff, family members, and Marietta community members are invited to celebrate with Chinese cuisine, more than $300 in door prizes, games, and many entertaining programs.

The Lunar New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is the first day of the Lunar calendar. The event is regarded as one of the most widely celebrated holidays across the world and in many cases the most important holiday in most Asian cultures. Over the past decade, Marietta College has offered hundreds of community members a fun, educational and cultural experience.

Guests can enjoy activities like Chinese Board Games, a hacky sack, ping pong, Chinese paper cutting, origami making, and a photo booth.

Entertainment for the night includes a World Traditional Costume Fashion Show, an International Student Talent Show, and performances by Floodstage (Marietta College’s acapella group), the Marietta College Dance Team, Brother 2 Brother and the Marietta College Jazz Band.

The event is free and open to the public. For additional information contact diversity@marietta.edu.
