NEXT GEN (LEAD 290) is an academic program that encourages nonprofit organizations to engage young, dynamic board members in their mission for one year (2 semesters). This one-credit per semester class creates a cohort of students and nonprofit organizations that mutually benefits all participants. Nonprofit organizations are partnered with a Marietta College student based on interests, skills, and availability for two semesters. Nonprofit Expectations: -Have 501(c)(3) certification and carry Directors and Officers Liability Insurance -Be within 25 miles of Marietta College -Have set monthly board meetings -Identify and provide a Board Mentor for your student board member -Have active committees and match your student board member with a committee -Attend Next Gen meetings and events to support your student board member in their academic and professional growth Nonprofits Gain: -New ideas for projects and programs -New perspectives -Enthusiasm for the organization -Passion for the mission -Age variety -A partnership with Marietta College -The ability to empower and teach the next generation Applications will close on Friday, October 30th, 2026. Nonprofits will then be scheduled for a short virtual 1:1 meeting to discuss the program further and ask any questions you may have. Parings will be complete by Thanksgiving.
