Marietta College's Center for Appalachian Innovation invites you to join industry,
government, academic, and economic development leaders for a one-day summit focused on
advancing Rural Development in Ohio’s Appalachian counties.
Rural development is essential to the long-term success of Appalachian Ohio because it
strengthens local economies, creates opportunities for residents, and helps communities build a
sustainable future while preserving their unique identity. Many communities throughout the
region face challenges such as population decline, limited workforce opportunities, aging
infrastructure, and barriers to attracting new investment. Addressing these issues requires
collaboration among educators, business leaders, government agencies, nonprofit organizations,
and local residents.
By working together and learning from successful models across Appalachia, communities can
identify innovative strategies that encourage entrepreneurship, develop a skilled workforce,
expand economic opportunities, and improve quality of life for future generations.
This summit will bring together leaders and partners from across the region to share ideas, build
connections, and explore ways to strengthen rural communities in Appalachian Ohio through job
growth, innovation, and economic development.
