The Faculty Development Committee invites you to celebrate the creative and scholarly work of colleagues on Friday, January 30, in Thomas 113 as Katy McDaniel and Bev Hogue present “Fact and Fancy: History and Literature in Conversation,” an in-depth discussion tackling questions like these:
- How do cultures process history through storytelling?
- What do our stories say about who we are?
- How do the disciplines of history and literature illuminate each other?
Katy and Bev will draw examples from their research on William Goldman’s The Princess Bride and Natasha Trethewey’s Native Guard, among other historical and literary artifacts.
Food and drink will be available starting at 3:30, and presentations will begin at 4 p.m. Attendees are invited to stay and socialize after the presentation as well.
Please join us to support the work of your colleagues.
