Paloma Martinez-Cruz will explore the complex landscape of Latino identity in the U.S. through history, culture, and lived experience. From the origins and meanings of terms like Latinx, Hispanic, and Chicano, to the shared cultural threads that unite diverse communities, this session encourages both critical reflection and cultural appreciation. Audiences will consider how everyday "contact zones" can either connect or misrepresent culture, with insights on authenticity, heritage, celebration, and a Q & A to follow. This event will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in the Gathering Place and is sponsored by the Office of Student Connections & Outreach.
