A recipient of numerous awards and honors, he has been recognized globally for his contributions to music and storytelling. His music often reflects Appalachian roots and real-life events, including his acclaimed song Siege at Lucasville. An “Ohio Artist on Tour” with the Ohio Arts Council and Midwest Arts Council, Steve Free continues to captivate audiences across the U.S. and Europe with his powerful blend of folk, country, and Americana. His goal is to educate children through music and storytelling about the rich heritage of our area -- the Appalachian and Native American cultures that have shaped it-- and to encourage them to explore their own roots. He also encourages participants to explore opportunities of the interconnectedness of man, nature, and spirit, and how the circle must include all these aspects to be complete.
