As part of our yearlong celebration, this podcast pays tribute to the societal impact of Title IX and reflects on 50 years of progress, while also acknowledging current challenges — and the potential for the next 50 years.

Episode 8: Mission to Mars (May 12, 2022)

Tom Perry sits down with Dr. Andrew Beck, Assistant Professor of Geology, to discuss the two different science teams he is working with on future missions to Mars. Dr. Beck has been a faculty member at Marietta College since 2019 and has worked for the Smithsonian Institute, was a team member for NASA's Dawn Mission and was part of the Antarctic Search for Meteorites Program.

Marietta College Vice President for Communication and Brand Management Tom Perry revisits the Pioneers' back-to-back National Championships that firmly established the Etta Express as the premier Division III baseball program in the country. Perry discusses the championships with head coach Brian Brewer; former players Mark Williams '11, Kyle Lindquist '12, Alex Toth '12, Tim Saunders '12, and Brian Gasser '12; associate coach Mike Deegan, Voice of the Pioneers Johnny Wharff, and Larry Gasser, father of Brian Gasser.

Marietta College Vice President for Communication and Brand Management Tom Perry revisits that record-setting winter with several of the prominent figures in the Pioneers' 27-4 season that resulted in the Ohio Athletic Conference regular season and tournament championships and a trip to the NCAA Sweet 16. Perry discusses the season with head coach Jon VanderWal; former players Trevor Halter '12, Kevin Knab '12, Joe Puch '12 and Tyler Hammond '14; Don Worstell, father of player Tyler Worstell '13; and Ryan Whitnable '11, the founder of This Week in Great Lakes Basketball podcast and the Great Lakes Invitational.
