  1. Demonstrating use of contemporary sport-related concussion sideline assessment tools, including the SCAT5 document.
  2. Explaining the most effective return-to-play protocols, including graduated steps for the most effective management of sport-related concussions.
  3. Demonstrating the use of sport-related concussion assessments including the King-Devick test, VOMS, clinical reaction time testing, Tandem Gait Test, grooved-pegboard test, BESS testing, and others.

  1. Identifying popular health issues in athletes, such as re-defining hypertension, REDS, gluten intolerance and clustering autoimmune issues
  2. Identifying how vitamin D, iron and omega 3 supplementation affects athletes
  3. Explaining current trends in performance enhancement substances including beet root juice and beta-alanine
  4. Assessing dietary practices that encourage a healthy microbiome
  5. Differentiating ketogenic, Paleo, intermittent fasting, and high protein eating patterns

Topic: 5 Things AT's should know about Strength Training ~ Saturday, Session 3:

Participants will increase self-efficacy in:

  1. Distinguishing between differentiation and modification in regards to training goals
  2. Choosing appropriate exercise based upon individual needs based upon movement screening scores
  3. Identifying how to determine volume and intensity of an exercise session using the principles of Prilepin’s Chart and Relative Intensity
  4. Defining speed, agility and conditioning based upon athletic and sport competition
  5. Describing the basic fundamentals needed for speed and agility development

  1. Explaining the neurophysiology of arthrogenic muscle inhibition (AMI)
  2. Identifying the short and long-term effects of AMI on muscle function
  3. Discussing techniques used to measure AMI
  4. Identifying therapeutic interventions that can diminish the effects of AMI

Participants will increase self-efficacy in:

  1. Identifying how entrepreneurship can fit into an athletic training career
  2. Identifying legalities of athletic training entrepreneurship
  3. Assessing readiness for entrepreneurship through understanding the skills and knowledge that are necessary for starting a business

Cancellation Policy:

Marietta College Athletic Training understands life circumstances occur, therefore any cancellations received on or before May 1, 2019, will receive 100% reimbursement of the symposium registration fee. Any cancellations made on or before May 13, 2019, will receive 50% reimbursement of the symposium registration fee. All other cancellations made after May 13, 2019, will not be granted reimbursement. If participants register for the event and do not attend the symposium, they are still responsible for full payment. Participants need to contact Jena Blair at jlb013@marietta.edu with a written notification of cancellation in order for your refund to occur.
