Biography

A native of Parkersburg, West Virginia, Brent Beeson, MS, MT-BC, has enjoyed being back home as he helps to grow and share the future of music therapy in the region. In addition to his teaching at Marietta College, Beeson provides music therapy in the community, specializing in the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music, as well as Dynamic Music and Sandwork. His clinical and research interests often focus on treating the effects of chronic developmental trauma. Before coming to Marietta College, he was on the clinical teaching staff at Virginia Tech Adult Day Services in the Human Development Department at Virginia Tech.

He became the Director of Music Therapy in 2022.

His advanced clinical training includes Advanced Associate in the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music in the Association of Music and Imagery (ami-bonnymethod.org). Professor Beeson has experience teaching: Music Therapy Theories; Music Therapy in the Promotion of Mental Health; Music Therapy in Medical Settings, Music Therapy Research Methods and Guitar Skills for Music Therapists.
