Biography

Dr. Nils Landsberg conducts the Marietta Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band and he guides all aspects of the instrumental music education program. Prior to his appointment at Marietta College, he served as the Associate Director of Instrumental Studies at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

Landsberg has lectured and performed throughout the United Sates, China, Latvia, and Estonia.  As a proponent of new music for winds, Dr. Landsberg is active in commissioning composers and his ensembles have received accolades for their performance from Viet Cuong, David Gillingham, Joni Greene, and Joel Puckett. In 2017 the UMHB Wind Ensemble was selected to be featured in the first Small Band Program Showcase for excellence in performance at the College Band Directors National Association Bi-annual conference in Kansas City, Missouri.

His professional affiliations include the College Band Directors National Association, the International Society for the Promotion and Research of Wind Music, the National Association for Music Education, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Pi Kappa Lambda, Kappa Delta Pi, and he is an honorary member of Kappa Kappa Psi.
