Student speaking with presenter

At Marietta College, the focus extends far beyond simply earning a degree. The College’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (CECD) is dedicated to equipping students with the tools and skills they need to thrive after graduation.

This commitment to post-college success was on full display on Thursday, April 11, when 18 Marietta students attended a special information session on navigating the hiring process and crafting an impactful résumé.

CECD hosted the event and featured a presentation from Hannah Dubec, Human Resources Coordinator at Status Solutions. Status Solutions was founded by Marietta alumnus Mike MacLeod ’83, who graduated with a B.S. in Biology and has used technology to help prevent tragedies in the wake of events like Columbine and 9/11.

“At Marietta, we know that academic achievement is only one piece of the puzzle when it comes to preparing our students for life after college,” said Dr. Jacqueline Khorassani, Senior Director of CECD. “That’s why we're committed to providing hands-on learning opportunities that develop the professional skills and real-world experience our students need to stand out to employers."

During the information session, Dubec walked the students through best practices for résumé writing, interviewing techniques, and navigating the complex hiring landscape. Students left the event armed with practical knowledge and the confidence to take their job search to the next level.

“The résumé writing tips Hannah shared were helpful. I feel like I have a much clearer understanding of what the hiring managers are looking for, and how to highlight my experiences and skills in my résumé,” said Connor Reed, a sophomore majoring in finance. “Events like this are invaluable for Marietta students as we get ready to make the transition from college to career.”

Khorassani added, “By partnering with accomplished alumni like Mike MacLeod and bringing in seasoned professionals like Hannah Dubec, Marietta College ensures its students graduate prepared not just for the diploma but for the path ahead. This unwavering commitment to holistic student development makes Marietta's education distinctive.”
