Marietta College's Physician Assistant Program is conducting its annual White Coat Ceremony at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 20, in the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center. The White Coat Ceremony is a significant event in medical education that marks the beginning of a student's journey into the field of medicine.

The short white coat typically symbolizes the transition from the preclinical or classroom learning to hands-on clinical experience or the clinical phase of training. The white coat is a symbol of professionalism and responsibility in the medical field. It signifies the commitment of physician assistant students to uphold the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and patient care. The white coat serves as a reminder of the primary focus of medicine: patient care. It symbolizes the trust that patients place in healthcare professionals and the responsibility that physician assistant students have to provide compassionate and competent care. Wearing the white coat also conveys a sense of authority and respect within the healthcare setting. It signifies that the wearer is part of a professional community dedicated to improving the health and well-being of others. The white coat ceremony is a memorable and symbolic event that celebrates their achievements and acknowledges the challenges and responsibilities that lie ahead.
