Annual Ohio Valley Indoor Rowing Championships

The Marietta Women's and Men's Rowing Teams are hosting the Annual Ohio Valley Indoor Rowing Championships tomorrow here at Marietta College.  

 

WHEN:  Saturday, February 14 (tomorrow!); 8:00am - 10:40am (detailed schedule below)

 

WHAT:  This is a 2,000m indoor race on rowing machines, with events for different experience levels and ages ranging from middle school, through high school, and including our own collegiate athletes.

 

WHERE:  Marietta College's Lindamood-VanVoorhis Boathouse; 812 Gilman Avenue, Marietta, OH 45750

 

WHY:  For the competitors, the spring season is quickly approaching and our race distance is 2000m.  Racing 2000m on the rowing machine approximates spring racing.  2000m times on the Concept2 rowing machine are the worldwide standard for Olympic, National Team, Collegiate, and High School boat selection... and for recruiting.  

 

For you?  If you (or your child) are potentially interested in getting involved in rowing, Marietta and Parkersburg have well-established youth (and masters) rowing programs and are great places to start.   Those programs (and their coaches) will all be here tomorrow.  Come check it out!  Also, as an ancillary benefit... although it's a bit of an intra-squad competition for Marietta's Rowing Teams, you'll see many of your students giving it their all....  and make no mistake, THEY will appreciate having you here!!
